New Music Video "Sueño Hermoso"
Cuban music is hot, and new Cuban born artist Lucio Fernandez is singing to Cuba's rhythms. Lucio Fernandez a.k.a. "The Cuban Kid" releases a new music video of his song "Sueño Hermoso" from his new CD "Enamorado". The song has a typical Son Cubano sound, but with a modern feel. The romantic but nostalgic video features beautiful panoramic views of the island.
The video performed by Lucio, features dancer Irina Fedosova, with Larry Piscitelli and Christian Diaz. Live On Stage
The TV show “Live On Stage” airing in various cable systems throughout New Jersey and hosted by Lucio Fernandez is going global. The weekly entertainment show is now available for viewing at http://www.Veoh.com/users/MeLuFilms.
Locally, the show can be viewed every Sunday evening at 10:00 PM on CABLEVISION Channel 19 in Hudson County, NJ; and on Wednesdays at 10:00 PM on Channel 76 in other areas throughout NJ. The co-producers are also currently in negotiations with several cable providers to carry the show. “Live On Stage” is an entertainment show that features local, national, and international artists. The show, which has been produced by MeLu Communications Group for the past ten years, has garnered a great following around the State of New Jersey. Together, they take us on a remarkable journey where we bear witness to a family’s commitment to survival and their unrelenting hope for the American dream. ENTRE NOS is inspired by the real life drama of Paola Mendoza’s mother's arrival in United States. After years of hearing the account and absorbing its implications, Paola realized she was ready to bring the heartbreaking but ultimately inspiring tale to the screen.

About Gloria La Morte, writer/director
Ms. La Morte has taken an active role in her filmmaking career as a writer, editorand most recently director. It started in 1999 when she wrote and co-produced DETAILS, a dark comedy that had its television premiere on HBO after winning numerous festival awards. Most recently, ENTRE NOS (released May 2010) marked her feature narrative debut as co-writer, co-director and editor. At its premiere at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival, it received an Honorable Mention and has since won over ten national and International festival awards. Since 2004 she has edited a series feature documentaries including AUTUMN'S EYES, where she won the Best Documentary Editing Award at the 2006 Woodstock Film Festival, WOVEN WAYS, winner of five national film festival awards and the short, LOVE AND LAUNDRY, which she also produced and had its world premiere at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. Another one of La Morte’s critically acclaimed productions is Alfredo De Villa’s WASHINGTON HEIGHTS (2000) a film she co-produced. She just finished editing Paola Mendoza’s compelling short documentary LA TOMA and is currently writing SOLEDAD, the screen adaptation of the novel "Soledad" by Angie Cruz.
About Paola Mendoza (Mariana) Ms. Mendoza, most recently stared in the 2007 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning film SANGRE DE MI SANGRE (aka PADRE NUESTRO). Sangre de mi Sange was nominated for two Independent Spirit Award and the prestigious Goya Award. ON THE OUTS, which she starred in and created was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards, a Gotham Award and was a recipient of the Audience and Jury Awards at the 2005 Slamdance Film Festival, as well as the Jury Award at the 2005 Deauville Film Festival. Two Local Musicians Named "Top DJ Picks 2010"
Two local Union City residents have been named "Top DJ Picks 2010" for their individual music recordings by KVMR 89.5/105.1 FM. DJ Leon Reyes (Salsa & Latin Jazz) from Nevada City, California was instrumental in crowning the two artists from Jersey as "Top DJ Picks for 2010". Leonel "Papo" Ortega and Lucio Fernandez, both of Union City, were named Top Picks alongside such artists as The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Tito Puente Jr., and Herbie Hancock.
Pianist & Vocalist Leonel "Papo" Ortega and his orchestra Cubanoson from Union City was Top Pick by KVMR for their newest CD entitled "Rumba Nueva", a compilation of original tunes mixed with some Cuban standards and even some innovational lyrics in French all with that unmistakable Cuban sound which Cubanoson is known for, making "Rumba Nueva" something extraordinary. Cubanoson's music is meant to be danced, and the group's success is due largely in part to the renaissance of Cuban music, of which they have become modern day ambassadors.
Vocalist Lucio Fernandez was Top Pick by KVMR for his newest CD entitled "Enamorado" ("In Love"). The CD is a compilation of original tunes with lyrics by Fernandez. It is a blend of various Latin rhythms from Bolero to Son, and from Cumbia to Bossa Nova, all with a Jazz flair. Fernandez, known for his hard driving Broadway style ballads, departs from that style to bring audiences a softer, silky romantic sound. However some of the more upbeat tunes will undoubtedly have listeners on their feet.
The choosing of these two local musicians further illustrates the caliber of talent coming out of Hudson County. Both of these artists have had successes in the international arena. Ortega's recordings have been highly featured in both radio play in the US, Canada, and Europe, as well as chosen to appear in other CD compilations. Fernandez' recordings have also received much radio play in the US, Canada, and Italy. Both perform regularly all over the tri-state area. Ortega with Cubanoson in places such as The Empire Casino in New York and at New Jersey's NJPAC; and Fernandez with his band of Broadway musicians in NYC at places such as Don't Tell Mama, The Duplex, and the Broadway Comedy Club.
