Co-written and co-directed by the Colombian filmmaker team Paola Mendoza - named one of “Filmmaker Magazine 25 Fresh Faces to watch for 2009” - and Gloria La Morte - an award winning editor for Autumn 's Eyes - ENTRE NOS is the story of Mariana (Paola Mendoza) and her children Gabriel, 10, and Andrea, 6. Together, they take us on a remarkable journey where we bear witness to a family’s commitment to survival and their unrelenting hope for the American dream. ENTRE NOS is inspired by the real life drama of Paola Mendoza’s mother's arrival in United States. After years of hearing the account and absorbing its implications, Paola realized she was ready to bring the heartbreaking but ultimately inspiring tale to the screen.
IndiePix President, Bob Alexander, remarked that: "From audiences at the Pusan Festival in Korea, to the Birds' Eye Festival in London, and from Deauville… this intensely personal view of what it takes to carve out a niche in the new world has struck a responsive chord. Paola Mendoza performing and writing with her creative partner, Gloria La Morte, have given us a timely, insightful and moving gift."
Since its Tribeca Film Festival debut last year Entre Nos earned the following mentions and awards: Honorable Mention, 2009 Tribeca Film Festival; winner of the Audience Award at the Newport International Film Festival; Special Jury Award at the Traverse City Film Festival; winner Best American Film, Festoria International Film Festival; Crystal Heart Award, Heartland Film Festival, winner Best of Fest & Presidents Award, Ft. Lauderdale International Film Festival and Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the Cancun International Film Festival.
